Instagram post 2187713448941956782_5144787225 Today I finally finished my course I had deferred while doing my Master of Autism. So I now have a Diploma of Health Science (Nutrition) and found it really helpful in the terms of #publichealth #nutrition #foodscience and systems and policy in relation to #autistic people.
Also this week I have been away on a #Writer’s #retreat with fellow #academics, who are in the process of completing a PhD, or have completed their’s or who are senior lecturers at #UOW. I’ve learnt so much in a couple of days and from Monday I will be putting together my proposal for a #PhD and will be tackling another amazing learning journey for the next 3 years doing some rather significant research.
And there’s me thinking I would take a break from study 😂🤓

Instagram post 2171750697362802656_5144787225 My graduation day was a very emotional and proud one for me. I’m not one for tears, but today totally got me teary and everything finally hit home. I did this and I can be so proud! I attained a Master of Autism (Education) and this is really significant. I often find it hard to comprehend just what I do, but glad it is finally sinking in!
It was a really great experience and I now have a new furry addition to the family, Frankie the Master Bear.
Now, time for a much needed mental rest and then to think about my PhD next…. #graduation #mastersdegree #uow #masterofautism

About this workshop

Relationships come in many forms. These can be friendships, romantic and intimate or these relationships can be part of our everyday lives when we are at work with bosses and colleagues or in an educational setting at school or uni. A commonality of these relationships is there usually is more than one person involved and requires navigation of the hidden expectations and dynamics of interaction and connection with other people.

In this workshop, Barb and Yenn will explore the various types of relationships, what the expectations are, and how neurodiverse people can express their needs and understanding of how they experience connecting with other people.

Some of the topics covered are the dynamics of friendships, romantic encounters and expectations in intimate relationships, redefining what a healthy relationship is, safety, bullying, harassment and understanding the unique needs for satisfying companionship.

Barb and Yenn will explore workplace and educational relationships and how to self-advocate in having needs met, to feel supported in an inclusive environment and to gain insight into how to work towards meaningful relationships with others.
